Ask before visiting
- Which time is usually quietest?
- Is there a separate calm area?
- Are staff able to explain the visit step by step?

Prepare the child
Show a photo of the building, explain borrowing and returning, choose one simple goal and agree how the child can request a break. A first visit can be five minutes; success does not require staying for a full activity.
