My role is not only to create helpful resources. It is to ensure Compass is guided by safeguarding, dignity, careful listening, clear boundaries and a genuine commitment to children and families.
Support should feel easier to find.
Families already carry enough. Finding trustworthy information should not become another exhausting task.
As a SEN Teacher, I have the privilege of working closely with incredible children and their families. My role goes far beyond supporting learning. It means listening, understanding, celebrating achievements, helping overcome challenges and working together to give every child the opportunity to thrive.
Every child is unique. Some need extra time. Others need visual support, predictable routines, sensory adjustments, a different way to communicate or simply an adult who notices their strengths and believes in them.
Over the years, I saw parents leaving schools, appointments and meetings with unanswered questions. They wanted to support their child but did not always know where to begin. They asked about autism, ADHD, EHCPs, communication, emotional wellbeing, behaviour, sensory resources, financial help, local services and everyday family life.
Whenever I could, I would try to support families by asking around, searching and signposting, but often very little was available or the support simply was not within reach.
That is how Compass SEN Support was born: a welcoming place created with experience and understanding, bringing trusted guidance, practical resources and encouragement together for families.
A few things every family deserves to hear.
You do not need to have everything worked out before you begin.
“You know your child in ways no report, assessment or professional ever fully can.”
Your knowledge matters. You belong at the centre of decisions.
“A difficult day does not erase your child’s progress—or your effort.”
Progress is rarely a straight line. Rest, recovery and trying again are part of the journey.
“Small steps are not small when they make everyday life safer, clearer or more joyful.”
A new word, a calmer transition, asking for help or feeling understood can be a meaningful achievement.
“You are not expected to know everything. You only need a safe place to begin.”
Take one manageable step. Compass will help you find the next.
Warmth first. Understanding always.
Everything on Compass is designed to encourage families, nurture confidence and keep the whole child at the centre.
We see the whole child
Strengths, interests, communication, relationships, sensory experiences and emotional safety all matter.
We nurture family confidence
Clear information should leave families feeling more capable, not more overwhelmed.
We turn understanding into action
Useful guidance should lead to practical support, realistic ideas and a manageable next step.
No family should leave Compass feeling more confused or alone.
We promise to welcome before we judge, listen before we advise and encourage before we criticise.
- To celebrate every achievement.
- To see the child before the diagnosis.
- To support the whole family, not only the challenge.
- To walk beside you, one step at a time.
“Every child deserves patience, possibility and someone willing to look beyond what is difficult.”
